Big bed now
Saturday 16 July - Keelia sleeps for the first time in a big bed.
After an eventful day it was good to see the fruit of our labour in the form of Keelia all wrapped up like a little button in her big bed.
Mental note - however tempting it may be to use rent-a-bomb's $57 a day van rental - do not give in to such temptation.
We had been offered a free bed from one of Glen's work colleagues so to continue in that money saving vein we hired a van from 'rent-a-bomb'. With 530,000kms on the clock, an extremely potent odour of an unidentifiable flammable liquid, various scraping and knocking noises, and a column gear shift that would not go into 1st, 2nd or reverse - the van lived up to its billing. Indeed we had rented a bomb and at each turn we anticipated the detonation that would lead to our celestial promotion. Understandably, whenever we stopped at a set of lights Keelia would seize the opportunity to cry out, "I want to get out" or "I want our car". This sort of plea would have been useless when we were in motion as her cries would have simply been drowned out by the 'ambiances' of the van. However, we survived the attempt on our lives and are better learned from the experience.
